Neonatal delivery room CPR: An analysis of the Get with the Guidelines®—Resuscitation Registry

BackgroundCardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in the delivery room (DR) after birth is rare. We hypothesized that factors related to maternal, delivery, infant and event characteristics associated with outcomes could be identified. also there would substantial variation from Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) algorithm.MethodsRetrospective review of all neonates receiving chest compressions DR AHA Get With The Guidelines—Resuscitation registry 2001 2014. primary outcome was return spontaneous circulation (ROSC) DR. Secondary survival hospital discharge. Descriptive statistics were used characterize data. Odds ratios confidence intervals calculated as appropriate compare survivors non-survivors.ResultsThere 1153 who received ROSC achieved 968 (84%) newborns 761 (66%) survived Fifty-one percent cohort without medications. Cardiac initiated within first minute life 76% events, prior endotracheal intubation 79% events.
